DANVILLE, Ind. — O. Lawrence Servies, 58, former Crawfordsville resident, died suddenly about 2 p.m. Sunday at his home in Danville, Ind. Mr. Servies was born in Crawfordsville July 10, 1910 the son of Rev. and Mrs. John R. Servies of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville. He was graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1929 and Wabash College 1933 with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He was married Jan. 1, 1933 to the former Maurine Caplinger of Crawfordsville. He was auditor of the Ben Hur Life Association from May 1934 to August 1943. He was then associated with the Fidelity Life Insurance Co. from 1943 until 1951, except for about 1 1/2 years while he was in the U.S. Navy. He trained at the Princeton University Officers Indoctrination Center and served as commander of a gun crew on a tanker until he was discharged in November 1945. He has been associated with the home office of Jefferson National Life Insurance Co. of Indianapolis since 1951. At the time of his death he was comptroller and treasurer of the company. Mr. Servies had been associated with scouting since 1947, and at the time of his death was assistant scoutmaster of Troop 301 of Danville. He had been an Explorer advisor, council member and had held district offices. He is a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Gery L. and Rex Eugene; two daughters, Anita Gay Salsman and Mary Kay Brown, and eight grandchildren all of Danville, Ind. Also surviving are the parents of Crawfordsville; four brothers, Edward Servies of Indianapolis; Leslie Servies of Virginia Beach, Va., John R. Servies Jr. of Cortland, N.Y. and Gordon Servies of Greer, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Lane and Mrs. Doris Hendricks, both of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Grantham of Crawfordsville. Funeral arrangements are pending at Danville, Ind.

DANVILLE, Ind. — Services for O. Lawrence Servies, 58, former Crawfordsville resident who died Sunday at his home in Danville, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Weaver Funeral Home here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Servies died of a heart attack.
